Nowadays frequent environmental problem is caused by the changing, increasing nature of heavy rainfalls, parallel occurring with continuous urbanization. In urban environments the rate of the covered surfaces has grown drastically in the previous decades. Unlike natural, green surfaces, impervious surface prevents rain infiltration to the soil, resulting in increased volume of runoff water. The lack of proper stormwater management can lead to several problems, both quantitative and qualitative ways. Flooding, overloading the existing rainwater collection, and sewer systems might occur. Besides the high sediment load, urban runoff waters can carry lots of other pollutants, for example: oils, heavy metals, fertilizers, PAHs, endangering recipient water bodies.
We believe that rain water is one of our most important natural treasures. The collection, cleaning, storage and re-use of rain water contribute to one of our most important targets: the preservation of the quality and quantity of our precious waters.
In this spirit, we prepare civil; mechanical; electrical and control engineering plans for stormwater management projects and their engineering facilities, stormwater drainage and management plans for industrial parks, highways and other major investments.
We provide a full range of services from stormwater management concept plans for municipalities and river basins, to the management of the implementation of the project. It is important for us to recycle rainwater, and to reuse it for irrigation and for fire water systems if possible.
Our innovative, patented solutions in the field of stormwater management are exceptional. In addition to the products, the installation methods are also environment-friendly, economical and efficient.
We are proud to have designed several pre-treatment facilities during which we were able to develop our own range of devices and equipment that have been installed and successfully operational.
Our company possesses a wide range of experiences and professional references in the field of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. Besides designing the wastewater treatment technology that meets the requirements, we consider the cost-effectiveness and the selection of optimal solutions as a key factor.
For the technologies designed by BDL, we provide full technological guarantee, we provide the manuals and plans for the trial run, and if requested, we can supervise, evaluate, the trial run period as well.
At the beginning of the planning and design process, we always conduct a specific technical, short-term and long-term economic and profitability analysis, in order to select the best suited solution in accordance with the customer’s needs.
We support the economic aspects and decision of the project with Life-cycle cost analysis, in order to provide our clients with unique and specific solutions.

On corporate level we are member and acting leading roles in several international organizations, with a global perspective.
As a member of the Hungarian Water Cluster, with about 35 other members, we rely on the expertise and resources of around 2000 colleagues. Mr. Kovacs, as the President of the Hungarian Water Cluster and the Hungarian Wastewater Association, has been working for several years for the world-wide recognition of the Hungarian professional knowledge, in which the international organization leadership posts are important milestones.
The Hungarian Water Association’s (HWA) main aims is to provide qualified but yet independent professional services and assistance to experts in the field of urban water management and to the domestic water sector. Reacting to the 21st centuries’ professional challenges by working effectively as an advocate organization is among HWA tasks beyond resetting our support activities and cementing our foundations. HWA goal is to establish strong international network by linking partners, suppliers and specialists, as well as to facilitate knowledge transfer, continuous improvement of water management related know-how, and to promote innovation widely. Károly Kovács have been acting as president of HWA to improve the Hungarian water management. In fact, the HWA is an umbrella organization not only for operators and suppliers but our organization puts a lot of effort to connect water utility operators’ colleagues, designers to representatives of municipalities, water management directorates and authorities. Moreover involving educational organisations, professors and students to the professional work has a great emphasis among our objectives.
The European Water Association (EWA) is an independent non-governmental and non-profit making organisation dealing with the management and improvement of the water environment. It is one of the major professional associations in Europe that covers the whole water sector, wastewater as well as drinking water and water related waste.
With member associations from nearly all European countries EWA consists of most European Union Member States, including all countries from Central and Eastern Europe which joined the European Union on 1 June 2013. Other European countries represented within the EWA are Albania, Serbia, Norway, and Switzerland. The aim of EWA is to provide a forum for the discussion of key technical and policy issues affecting the growing European region. This is done through conferences, workshops, meetings and special working groups of experts all organised on an international basis together with regular publications. EWA informs its members on the development of EU legislation and standardisation and seeks to influence the drafting when appropriate. It has close contacts with the European Commission (DG Environment), the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the European Parliament. Through this exchange of knowledge the objective of EWA is to contribute to sustainable water management, a safe water supply and the protection of the water and soil environment. In the framework of the Hungarian Water Cluster our company is playing an active role in EWA, between 2013 and 2015 Károly Kovács was the president of the organisation and now he is member of the management committee.
The Hungarian Water Utility Association was established in 1990 with the aim to act as an independent representative of the water sector’s interests, intermediating trade development and engineering services. BDL is member of HWUA, Károly Kovács is member of the economics committee as well.
